There are many so-called "rules", "Principles" and other "guidelines" for self-defense. To one degree or another, they are all effective and useful. But if you ignore the "First Rule" self-protection, your ability to defend yourself against a violent assault to deteriorate, if not impossible. The reason is simple: the bad guys are not playing with a set of rules. It should not.
It is unfortunate, but many of you reading this have been or will be involved in a type of aggression in which his life is threatened or a threat of serious injury. For women, the risk is even greater. Unfortunately, there is a very good chance the attacker will be bigger, heavier, stronger and faster than you. Worse, you have a partner. Criminals are still trying to stack the deck in their favor.
To counter this, you must use every means at their disposal. Therefore a comprehensive approach is needed and what must prepare now to use this approach.
When an attack happens, I prefer the end result is that nothing wrong and that the attacker was stopped in its tracks, and finally brought to justice. However, if you're willing ugly nature of the violent attack, and are willing and able to respond to a species, are at a distinct disadvantage. So, understand that there are no rules in self-defense requires a fundamental change in the way you think about the nature of violence itself.
Most of us think of violence, something only "bad" people do. Good people "defend" themselves. Well, kind of thinking can get killed. "Violence" is simply a tool, and like all tools can be used for good or evil. When an attack is imminent, and "defend" itself, which puts you at a disadvantage, you should instead think about how to stop the violent attack. Period. Do not make you a "bad" to do so. Your goal is to make her regret for the attacker chooses a target that day. Let's be clear about this.
There are many opportunities for self-defense. Martial arts training, tools and equipment defensive (pepper spray, batons, etc.), protection of the house (hidden cameras, alarms, etc..) Which is the best subject of lively debate in the world of self-defense. Some say that "martial arts". Others will not be without your pepper spray or a taser. My answer? It depends on several factors, but regardless of these facts, you should be competent and ready for all areas.
Martial arts can be very useful and should be part of your overall strategy. However, you must realize that traditional martial arts system, in all likelihood not be sufficient in your immediate self-protection. This is due to the fact that most of the art, it takes usually several years of regular training to become proficient enough to use their skills to deal effectively with violence.
A better alternative is the search for self-defense training program that focuses on easy to learn, easy to remember and highly effective techniques and principles for immediate use. This program should allow a smaller person, physically weak to defend itself against an attack stronger, more powerful aggressor. In addition, this training must be learned in a relatively short period of time ... usually no more than a week or two. Once armed with these skills, then only you agree to the tradition of long-term training have been found in most martial arts systems. Remember, the goal is to be able to defend now, years later.
There may be times and situations where a response of martial arts may be impossible or inappropriate. An example would be if you had recently suffered a disabling injury. Or maybe you're facing multiple attackers. In both situations, perhaps using a pepper spray, a stun device, or even a personal alarm would be better.
None of these provided complete protection anytime, anywhere. However, everyone must be part of an overall strategy to protect themselves. A comprehensive strategy to protect the basic framework in which all successful self to rest. Remember, "There are no rules."
